Yukimi Maeda

Yukimi is a luminous figure in the realm of jazz, celebrated for her virtuosity on the piano and her passionate dedication to music education. Born and raised in  Japan, her journey into the world of jazz began at a young age, where she was captivated by the improvisational freedom and emotional depth of the genre. Her early musical training provided a solid foundation in classical piano, but it was the allure of jazz that truly sparked her creative spirit. Immersing herself in the works of jazz luminaries such as Duke Ellington, Bud Powell, and Bill Evans, Yukimi honed her skills and developed a distinctive voice on the piano. After completing her formal education in music, she embarked on a career that would see her performing on stages around the world. Her dynamic performances, marked by a blend of technical precision and emotional resonance, earned her acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Beyond her work as a performer, she is deeply committed to passing on the tradition of jazz to future generations. As an educator, she has taught at prestigious institutions and jazz workshops, sharing her knowledge and passion with aspiring musicians of all ages. Yukimi's contributions to the world of jazz extend beyond the stage and the classroom. Her fourth recording “I Believe in You” Released in October 2024 with Harvie S on bass and producer. Their last recording “NY Memories” was reviewed by Marc Myers who said: "It's the kind of album that you can listen to all day long, and if you're writing, painting or creating in any way, it's inspiring”. She actively supports initiatives aimed at fostering greater representation of women and people of color in jazz, believing firmly in the power of music to unite and uplift people from all walks of life.
