About Lesson

Based in New York, Yukimi brings over 25 years of teaching experience across both New York

and Japan. In Japan, she taught at Kawai Music School and operated her own music studio,

guiding students from young children (age 5) to seniors. After relocating to New York, she

continued teaching at Riverdale Music Studio and Lagond Music School, and now offers private

instruction.

Her lessons emphasize not only core fundamentals—such as note reading, rhythm, and music

theory—but also a relaxed, tension-free approach to piano playing. By encouraging natural

movement and efficient technique, students develop a strong foundation that allows them to play

comfortably and with minimal stress.

While Yukimi has a deep classical background, she has also performed extensively in jazz and

popular music. Her teaching includes jazz harmony, theory, and improvisation, with a strong

emphasis on practical application. Students learn to “play what they hear,” developing both

intellectual understanding and expressive, musical feeling.

Each lesson is tailored to the individual. Yukimi carefully assesses each student’s level, goals,

and learning style. She creates a customized practice method and assignments that support

steady and meaningful growth.

Lessons are available for beginners on up to advanced.and adapted to each individual’s pace. The

focus is to have the joy of learning and grow musically.

Online lessons are also available worldwide.
